More Than Hearing Aids Are Available For the Deaf

There are definitely more than hearing aids available for the deaf. People who are deaf do not always have to rely on a hearing aid for communication. They can rely on other things as well. Video relay services are just one of the options that are available that the deaf can use. Another one is visual notifcations.
Video relay is basically just a text messaging service that translates conversation to a text message that you can read on any video cell phone. This service is only offered through At&t and Sorenson. The interpreter translates the message into sign language, making it very easy to communicate with a person that is deaf. This is good to use for phone conversations and even at things such as meetings. Deaf people can really use this to the best of their advantage. There are certain requirements that are needed in order to qualify for this service.
Something else to consider for the deaf are visual notifications. If someone that is deaf receives an email message or even something that occurs that needs their attention, they can rely on a visual image as a notification source. This visual image will appear on the corner of their computer screen when such notifcations arrive. A deaf person will have to enable this notification through their windows. There are different steps that are needed to be taken depending on the windows you have. Even through cell phones, there are ways for the deaf to know when they have receieved a notification, by turning their phone on vibrate.
Believe it or not, hearing aids are not the only form of communication for the deaf. There are many other forms of communication that they can use. Video relay as well as visual notifications are becoming popular to the deaf also.
